Asin Interview

Asin, latest sensation for Tamil movie buffs. Hailing from Kerala this young actor has been listed among the top ten actors in the state. What has made this dynamic actor to attain name and fame within such short period of time? The series of successful hit featuring with the top actors such as Vijay, Ajith, Surya and Vikaram all at once. In fact the season was also called “Asin Fever”.

Asin ever since the age of 14 was in to modeling. Apart from modeling she has been trained in folk and Bharatham. She started her movie career in 2001 in a Malayalam movie called “ Narendran makan jayakanthan vaka “ directed by Sathyan Anthikkad. Then came a spate of movies in Telugu including ‘Amma Nana O Tamila Ammai’ in which she received the Film Fare Best Actress award. Asin won the hearts of the Tamil audience with her captivating performance in the super hit movie ‘Gajini’. ‘Sivakasi’ and ‘Maja’

The young actor is here to share a quick chat with reader of Chennai Trendz.

  1. How is your support with your parents? You seem to have an admirable level of report with your dad?

Being a single child I am the constant focus of my parents’ attention but I don’t think anyone can label me as a spoilt brat. They are my best friends with whom I share my dreams and fears. I always enjoy our dinner table discussions. My parents have been supportive of my decisions and given me total freedom to do what I want.

  1. You dance pretty well. Did you through the grind of learning dance?

I learnt Bharatanatyam and even some folk forms. I was a lot into culturals right from my days at the Naval Public School in Cochin. That is probably so true, because dancing is almost all that goes on during inter school and inter college culturals. It has reached such a point that some universities have contemplated banning filmi dance completely.

  1. What was optional if not in cinema?

Since the age of fourteen, I have been an entrepreneur marketing and distributing hospital equipments, medical devices, computers and accessories. I also dealt with antiques.

  1. So what happen to your business , while you are busy in shooting ?

That no problem at all as I have reliable managers to handle it while I am away. Let’s leave films for awhile. What kind of cloths do you prefer? Decent stuff, seriously, I am comfortable in both western and ethnic Indian,. And it is nice that a lot of professional designers are around these days to help you look good. But I am not fond of jewellery.

  1. Not fond of owning jewellery or just not fond of wearing it? Then what do you do with all your money?

I like owning good stuff but I find decking myself with a lot of jewellery is silly. As for my money I invest to ensure a comfortable future. I strongly believe in financial independence. Despite my urge to be an achiever I don’t want it on any old terms. It’s got to be on my terms.

  1. So what are we talking about?

These days’ film producers want us heroines to be glamorous all the time. Sadly, glamour is just another world for obscenity in the film world. I can never do a murder or jims.

  1. Does that mean those who wear revealing costumes have got it all wrong?

Not that I am not into that. If things don’t happen my way I would rather pack up my bags and go home.

  1. What is your pass time?

I also love traveling and meeting people. But these days I long to get back to my home in Cochin and enjoy home made food. I also try to squeeze out some time to catch up with my studies.

  1. Are there any unsavory rumours about you?

Well if there are any I must have a hole in my head if I am going to tell you any. But seriously, I have been spread as of now. Asin is definitely one who is admired for her stylish dressing sense. Good fabrics, stylish cut and impeccable stitching is her hallmark. Thank god. She doesn’t depend on film costumers for her clothes like she said earlier. It is not surprising that we hear that Aamir Khan is prepared to cast her in his remake of ‘Gajini’. Asin is one of the few south India actor to turn as a Bollywood star. Her look and style has influenced producers to pay attention to styling. Asin epitomizes the youngsters today. Cool, confident and stylish…we can see that stardom will be a piece of cake for her.
