FASHION DESIGNING
Introduction
Designing plays a vital role in today’s Fashion. Fashion designing relates to the designing of clothes, dresses, garments, etc. As a career Fashion Designing has gained a lot of importance among the youth of today. The generation Y are far more creative and possess a sense of style within them.
A Fashion designer must be artistic and creative. They should be able to express their ideas in sketches and must be able to combine colors and shades. A fashion designer must be trend conscious and highly original in his works. Fashion designers combine fashion savvy with creativity and technical skills. Their daily activities can include sketching designs, drawing and cutting patterns to create sample garments, selecting fabric and trimmings, modifying the finished clothing, reading fashion magazines, attending fashion shows and working with other designers.
Remuneration mainly depends on the personal ability and skills of the individual. It may range from Rs.12,000 to Rs.25,000.Those people with higher experience can command a far better salary.
ELIGIBILITY
Candidates who wish to pursue in fashion designing as a career can take up a four-year B.FTech course after completing 10+2 from a recognized Board of Education. Eligibility is based on the marks obtained in the 10+2 and in the entrance exams.

Work opportunities are ample when it comes to dealing with fashion. For a job, one can avail the opportunities in the following sectors :
- Export houses dealing with garment, textile and handloom exports.
- Retail and wholesale garment businesses in sportswear and casual wear

- Fashion Stylist
- Fashion show organisers/Fashion publishers
- TV/Film fashion programme producers/ comperes/costume designers.
- Fashion Consultant
