HOW TO KEEP YOUR CHOLESTEROL BALANCED
  • Regular exercise will help you lose weight and control your cholesterol. 30 minutes of aerobic exercise at least thrice a week will do the trick.
  • Aerobic exercises pushes up your heart rate thereby increasing your BMR (Basal Metabolic Rate) which help you burn fat.
  • Opt for swimming, walking jogging or cycling. Gardening and household chores also help.
  • Choose chicken or fish over red meat as these are lower in harmful fats
  • Grill, steam, poach, bake, microwave or casserole instead of frying or sautéing with extra fat.
  • Do yoga everyday to improve your cholesterol count
  • Choose low-fat diary products (double toned milk and skimmed milk dahi/curd ) and avoid fatty ones (full cream milk and mozzarella cheese)
  • For cooking stick to healthy mediums such as olive, sunflower, safflower and corn oils. Avoid hydro generated fat like dalda.
  • Increase your intake of fibre
  • Substitute regular tea with green tea.
  • Opt for red wine.
