Trisha Interview

Having given her call sheets to both the Tamil and Telugu film industries, Trisha has been shuttling between Chennai and Hyderabad over the last few months. Between the shoot of ‘Abiyum Naanum’ her current Tamil film directed by Ratha Mohan, where she plays the role of Abi, with Prakash Raj as the father we managed to interact with this gorgeous actor. Here are the questions answered by her in person when in Chennai.

  1. How did you venture into Tollywood?

Initially I was reluctant to act in Telugu Films. I was focusing in Tamil Films at that time. I gave a shot in a film produced by M.S.Raju where I had to play a role in the rain. I was scared to get drenched for a long time. But M.S.Raju was very keen that I do that role which eventually paid off. Now I am happy that I did that role.

  1. Who is your favourite director?

Without doubt it’s Indian No 1 Director Mani Ratnam Sir.

  1. On a personal level, you have been single for a long time, what’s your view on marriage?

To be frank I am scared of it!

  1. What makes you say that?

Reasons are around you. Everywhere marriages are crumbling. No doubt there are few lucky couples who get along well. It very difficult to find the right person especially when you are an actor. It is not going to be easy. As an actor feel that his or her partner must be from a different profession.

  1. Coming back to movies, what do you feel is the nucleus of a movie? Is it the story line, co-stars or the Director?

Everything. A lot of things determine the success of a film. It’s very difficult to get everything right. It’s more like gambling. You take your chances and hope for the best.

  1. Do you ever feel that you must have got into an education oriented profession?

Actually I do regret that could not enjoy my college life to the maximum because by then I had got into full fledged acting. College life is real fun. At times I do feel for it but I am happy in the profession I am.

  1. You are the only actor who has managed to stay slim right from your modeling days. What’s the secret on your fitness and beauty?

I am very conscious of my health. If one is healthy, or workout to stay healthy, then beauty will follow automatically. I don’t believe in artificial beauty. According to me what you are born with is called beauty. Cosmetics are temporary; in the long run it will let you down.

  1. You seem to be pinning a lot of hope on your upcoming films. Can you survive with a female oriented story in this male dominated industry?

This is absolutely a male dominated industry. You have to play your cards within your limits. Even the so called female oriented films are ruled by a hero who will dominate the heroin in one way or the other. Inspite of all this I do feel that the heroines do get the recognition for performances.

  1. The film that you are doing now, ‘Abiyum Naanum’ by Radha Mohan is different from the ones you have done till now. Do you feel that your prospects are going to increase after this film?

‘Abiyum Naanum’ has a very touching story. I was greatly moved when I heard the story. It explores the bonding relationship between a father and his daughter. One doesn’t realize that such a strong bond actually exists unless it is expressed in films. The film takes you across many things that happen in a girl’s life.

  1. How do you feel acting in a performance oriented film like ‘Abiyum Naanum’?

All this while I was acting in pure commercial films. One can do commercial films for a certain period. I did get a few performance oriented films in Telugu but this is my first such film in Tamil and I am very happy about it.
