Yoga, A traditional kalai is done to maintain a sound body and mind.
It is a life of self – discipline based on the tenets of “simple living and high
thinking” As Master Swami Vishnudevananda says “Health is wealth, Peace of mind
is Happiness, and Yoga shows the way”, we need to be healthy to be happy.
The whole world cannot have the same religion or single nation. One needs to find
unity in diversity. We are all here to be happy and have a peaceful atmosphere.
Each and every one has to find the inner peace to see the whole Universe in peace.
If one needs to change a silk cloth to cotton cloth he needs to change each and
every thread of the cotton cloth to silk. Inner peace can only be found through
yoga.
This system of Yoga is a simple, a natural programme involving five main principles.
Proper Exercise, Proper Breathing, Proper relaxation, Proper Diet, Positive thinking
and Meditation. The body is seen as a temple for the soul, and this vehicle needs
specific requirements which must be fulfilled for it to function smoothly .They
can be listed as: a lubricating system - Proper exercise, a battery - Proper Breathing,
a cooling system – Proper Relaxation, the correct fuel - Proper Diet, and a responsible
driver behind the Wheel – Proper Thinking and Meditation. Only when all this go
together we can drive the life vehicle smoothly. We need to be conscious and aware
about ourselves by practicing yoga regularly. This helps to relive the stress created
by our self and see through life and how to live peacefully.
Numerous modern physical culture systems are designed to develop the muscles through
mechanical movements and exercise. The fundamental difference between yogic exercises
and other exercise is that physical culture usually emphasizes violent movement
of the muscles. This tends to produce large quantity of lactic acid in the muscle
fibers causing fatigue. Asanas are practiced slowly reducing the production of lactic
acid. What ever is produced is neutralized by the increase in oxygen that is taken
during deep breathing. This is the fore most one to practice, and should be followed
by pranayama and meditation.
