Numerous modern physical culture systems are designed to develop the muscles through mechanical movements and exercise. The fundamental difference between yogic exercises and other exercise is that physical culture usually emphasizes violent movement of the muscles. This tends to produce large quantity of lactic acid in the muscle fibers causing fatigue. Asanas are practiced slowly reducing the production of lactic acid. What ever is produced is neutralized by the increase in oxygen that is taken during deep breathing. This is the fore most one to practice, and should be followed by pranayama and meditation.
