In this era when the Tamil Film Industry is on the look out for talented actors, we had Ashwin Shekar introduced into Kollywood with the release of “Vegam” last year. After the success of his first film, he is on the highway to glory. Here we have this young jubilant actor sharing his first experience in the film industry.

1. How did ‘Vegam’ happen?

I finished college, wanted to do films, I told Appa about it, we listened to some scripts and then picked Vegam.

1. How prepared where you for the production?

I was quite confident because it was our own production. Then I made sure I was a part of all pre – production. Then I made sure I was a part of all pre-production activities. I had learnt stunt and dance for more than a year.

1. How did you feel about being a celebrity’s son?

People recognized and accepted me immediately. It’s nice to be famous, good to have a known identity. But, people expect more out of you.

1. How good are you with comedy? Why didn’t you take it up?

No, I don’t think I am very good at it, that’s why I didn’t take it up.

1. How much would you rate your film on ten?

They have done all that one can possibly do in cinema, there’s professionalism and hard work is impeccable.

1. What was impressive about Vegam that you wanted to make a movie out of it?

I loved the tempo of the movie, and the awaiting suspense in it.

I watch a lot of movies.

1. What do you think about the trend of remaking movies?

It’s good that my own movie is a remake of an English film. It’s a nice trend as long as the audience likes it.
