Bharath Interview

“Perarasu has transformed me into an Action hero!” - Bharath Bharath was collectively introduced as one of the Penta – heros in the film ‘Boys’. From then on it has been success road for this young talented actor.

Having been recognized for his performance in “Chellame” he went on and established himself as a fullfledged hero through the film “Kaadhal”.

He climbed the stairs of success with the help of big banners and big directors. During the shoot of his current film “Muniyandi Vilas” directed by Thirumurugan, he was kind enough to interact with our reporter.

  1. ‘Veyil’ is one of your hit films. Can you share your experiences in that film with us?

It was all because of director Shankar. In ‘Veyil’ all the characters were already decided except the younger brother’s role. Shankar thought that I would suit the role and offered it to me. I was a little hesitant to take up a secondary but I trusted Shankar’s judgment and went ahead Today I am happy that I did do that role. Everyone appreciated my performance. Vasantha Balan had worked very hard on the film. He worked day in and day out, skipping meals and working nights. He rightly deserved the public’s appreciation.

  1. How was it to work with Perarasu?

Perarasu’s working style is totally different. His imagination, his clear conception of how his hero should be etc is very dignified. He has a complete sketch in his mind. He gives a lot of importance to the hero. It was big change for me and a wonderful experience.

  1. How was it to work with Malayalam film director Jayaraj?

We finished that film in just 28 days He is a very fast worker.

  1. What is your target for the year 2008?

To begin with I want to do more films in 2008 than what I did in 2007.

  1. Do you prefer to work with directors who have worked with Mass heroes?

Not at all. It’s the subject at the working style of directors.

  1. We have heard that your current film is an action oriented. Are you focusing on action films?

No, I selected this script because I liked the story. It is not just an action film and an action film does not entirely depend on fight scenes a lot of thing from tempo and dialogue counts. This film has all the commercial elements.

  1. Are you on the verge of becoming an action hero?

Not exactly, my films will have everything – action, romance and comedy. Rajini did a semi – comedy role in ‘Annamalai’ and then did a complete action flick in ‘Baasha’. Then a sentimental one in ‘Veera’. ‘Nepali’ is a mass action movie film but a lovable movie. ‘Thirumurugan’ is family oriented one. I want to give variety.

  1. Tell us in detail about your upcoming projects?

As of now I am doing ‘Muniyandivilas’ with is a hilarious comedy and an action thriller.

  1. Any projects in other languages?

I am getting offers in Telugu, but I don’t have the time.

  1. In today’s industry does the storyline on the film get altered as and when the shooting progresses?

It’s an unfortunate thing in cinema that stories are often changed on the sets without any notice. Reasons are many. But I have worked with good directors who have a clear conception of what they want and stick to it till the end of the shoot. Even if some changes needs to be done, I don’t interfere. I do what the director asks me to do.

  1. Are you still in touch with your old friends?

It is difficult to maintain contacts on a regular basis in the midst of my hectic schedule but I do manage to meet up with my friends. Moreover you get to make new friends at your work place.

  1. How do you celebrate your birthday?

I celebrate my birthday with my fans and my parents. I involve in some charity work on my birthday through my fan clubs. We distribute books, pens and other stationery items to poor students.

  1. Who do you feel is the best pair on screen?

I would vote for Sharukh Khan and Kajol. They are the best. Nobody can match Shahrukh.

  1. As an individual, what are the advantages and disadvantages in the film industry?

I don’t think there are any negatives factors at all. One gets the advantage of acquiring fame, money and numerous opportunities to meet a lot of people .I would not have got this experience if I was in any other normal job. I came in to the movies when I was sixteen and ever since, it has been eventful life. I cherish every second of it.
